New homes on Land West of Honiton Road, Staplehay, Taunton

Introduction

This consultation is being undertaken by Burrington Estates to provide the community with information about proposals for new homes following garden village principles on land west of Honiton Road, Staplehay, Taunton. It also explains how the community can get involved.

Burrington Estates is a developer with a growing reputation for delivering high quality and beautiful homes in the West Country. Its ambition is to create an exemplar new community in Staplehay that has a strong sense of “place” and which existing and future residents can be proud of.

 The Site

The site is located to the west of Honiton Road and immediately north of Canonsgrove Halls of Residence. It is currently level agricultural land.

The site is within level walking distance of the village centre of Trull, where there is a range of local services and community facilities.  There is a regular bus service to and from Taunton that runs past the site.

The Proposed New Homes

Burrington Estates is looking to reinvigorate a planning application that was submitted in 2015 but remains undetermined. The following link is to Somerset West and Taunton’s planning website and details of the application can be found by inserting reference number 42/15/0001:

The aim is to work with the community over the coming weeks to create a new masterplan for the site following garden village principles.
